"Just squeeze your abs more."

Coming from trainers and therapists, this cue can be frustrating and confusing for SCI athletes when it’s a challenge to simply feel abdominal muscles.

How can we connect to the core in a more resonable way?

In this workshop, we’ll explore the potential of fascial lines and their role in connecting to core muscles after a paralyzing injury. Using the “spiral fascial line,” we can leverage the strength and connection we have in our shoulders to create tension in thee core and postural muscles for more efficient and improved movement: rolling over, seated stability, transfer control and so much more!

The spiral fascial line is just one of several fascial chains that can be used to connect to areas in the body we are looking to re-integrate. If you have ever wondered how fascial systems can support you (or your clients) in SCI recovery, this workshop provides the fundamental understanding to get started.

What you'll learn:

  • Harness the potential of fascial lines for body reconnection after paralysis
  • Learn practical exercises you can do yourself which leverage fascial connections
  • Review essential anatomy of the shoulders & trunk to better visualize your movements
  • Apply fascial connectivity to improving other daily motions

Frequently Asked Questions

I have a complete SCI and don’t have access to my core. Will this help me?

Definitely – the whole idea of fascial connectivity is that you can extend connection from muscles that you can move, along fascial lines, into areas where muscles are less active. Over time this practice will create new movement patterns, and many SCI athletes find that they can connect to regions they never thought possible: lumbar spine, abdominals, or glutes.

I have an incomplete SCI. Does this apply to me?

Certainly – we find that athletes with incomplete injuries can often leverage their fascial lines in multiple places, which accelerates the acquisition of new connections.

Is this workshop for SCI athletes or SCI trainers?

Both! The workshop is directed toward athletes, which means that trainers can get ideas for how to work with their clients. If you are familiar with fascial lines, that’s even better – this workshop presents our approach to harnessing their potential for connection specifically for trunk control.

Will we be moving through exercises? Should I have a helper present?

Yes, we’ll go over a few simple exercises that most athletes can complete from a chair. We will also demonstrate a few exercises performed on the floor – recruit help if you think you’ll need it there!

How long will I have access to the online workshop?

You will be able to access and revisit the workshop for one-year from the purchase date.

After I complete this course, what do I do next?

Check out our Posture Workshop, which you can get for $10 off if you purchase along with this workshop!
