So, you got a new client inquiry…

Don’t worry, we got you.

We’ve put together the most relevant information for movement professionals to feel confident getting started with their first SCI clients.

In this workshop, we’ll cover all the things you need to know as a movement professional working with SCI and leave out all the medical jargon that you don’t need to know.

With a comprehensive exploration of potential motor and sensory abilities you may encounter (with so many video examples of REAL individuals with SCI), you’ll be confident about what to expect when your new client with a C5 ASIA B SCI comes through your door.

Between an analysis of common movement compensation patterns observed after SCI and a breakdown of some things you might hear your client say they want to work on (how does someone drive with no leg movement?!), you’ll be on track to support their goals.

We’ll also cover all the important safety considerations/secondary challenges that are unique to SCI so you are ready to address them *if* they ever come up. And if you’re hesitant about helping someone transfer out of their wheelchair onto your table, we’ve got that covered too.

In this 8 HOUR course, you'll learn:

  • Movement and sensory “expectations” of different levels of SCI and ASIA scores
  • What is neurological tone and how it impacts an individual’s movement
  • Mobility aides and how/when someone might use them
  • Secondary concerns/challenges that come with SCI (and how to address them in the clinic)
  • Common compensation patterns
  • General program direction for different presentations of SCI
  • Disability language & etiquette
  • Physical space/accessibility perimeters
  • Popular “recovery” modalities in the SCI rehab landscape

But don’t just take it from us.

Embedded within the lectures: Five different individuals with SCI weigh in on their personal experiences living with SCI throughout the workshop.

We have cultivated a working relationship around communication, collaboration, and openness to discovery since 2014. Through our shared journey in neuro-rehab – for one, that is recovery, and the other, professional growth – we have together developed an understanding of the process of reconnection, and ways to facilitate healing.
